• 17 Miracles combines recorded events from the ill-fated Willey and Martin handcart companies of 1856. This movie is well-researched, well-written and very well-performed. An engaging docu-drama, it tells about a group of people caught in circ**stances of harsh terrain, an early and brutal winter and dwindling supplies who face death by starvation and or freezing in their quest to "go to Zion." It is an uplifting story of human beings under great duress who demonstrate their great faith and humanity in extreme circ**stances. One cannot help being touched and uplifted by the story and gain a greater appreciation for people who pioneered this great country in the mid 1800's. Well worth watching no matter what your religious affiliation or lack of affiliation. This movie deserves an Academy Award for best docu-drama.
