Tucson movie theatre updates

AMC Foothills reduces ticket prices in its 15 Tucson cineplexes. Prices lower by $1 for most films. AMC lower prices.

Downtown movie theatre shows first run films. The Screening Room, at 127 E. Congress St., is showing current movie releases. Grand Cinemas takes over operations from Arizona Media Arts Center. The annual Arizona International FIlm Festival will continue to be held.

The Crossroads 6 Theatre on Grant Road, famous for its cheap discounts on second-run movies, has closed. It reopens as an upscale movie theater with new state-of-the-art screen and seats, including a larger selection of dining and snacks.

Northside Tower Theatres at Arizona Pavillions has closed and reopened as a Harkins Theatre. The 12-screen theatre will continue to show top opening films.

The eastside Century Park 16, near Interstate 10 and West Grant Road closed in 2011. The 16-screen multiplex was recently sold to a group of investors who have other plans for the property. The Century Park 16 opened in October 1989 at the location of the former Tucson 5 Drive-in theater.
