If you didn’t know already, December will the see the release of the star studded musical adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s 1987 hit show ‘Into the Woods’, a wonderfully dark twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. In tow are Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp, James Corden and Christine Baranski, to name but a few. But, it’s not in the cinemas until Christmas Day of this year.

If you, like me, need to please your inner child with a bit of kid friendly movie magic, then you’ll be happy to know that there are some amazing children’s films being released in the coming months.

Starring: Elle Fanning Simon Pegg, Toni Collette
A young orphaned boy finds himself falling in with quite the strange crowd and is raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors called the Boxtrolls. In his teenage years, he is put in a position that sees him trying to save his friends from an evil exterminator. It’s based on the children’s novel ‘Here Be Monsters’ by Alan Snow and is directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi.

Starring: Zoe Saldana, Channing Tatum, Christina Applegate
A coming of age 3d-animation that doubles up as a romantic comedy. Not bad. Here, Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart, embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. This is director Jorge R. Gutierrez’s first feature length and is looking like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Starring: Genesis Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Jamie Chung
Disney are at it again, creating another wonderfully loveable character called Baymax, a somewhat inflatable robot that is the friend of main character Hiro. Hiro becomes the target of an evil genius who wants to take over the world and he is forced to team up with 5 other super heroes in order to protect the nation. With ‘Frozen’ and ‘Wreck It Ralph’ having been huge hits for Disney, it looks like they could have another hit under their belts with Big Hero 6.
