Next time you’re flipping through your preferred streaming service(s) looking for something to watch, keep The Paramount Vault in mind. The recently launched YouTube channel offers a mix of popular clips from the studio’s huge library of films as well as full length movies divided up into the basic categories: Sci-Fi, Horror, Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, and Classics.
One of the first movies that caught our attention was the 1987 Dolph Lundgren cartoon adaptation Masters of the Universe. That film recently appeared on Netflix, but before that, was notoriously difficult to track down. It’s not the best representation of the source material ever created, but it’s a fun bit of nostalgia for the right audience.
If you’re looking for something spooky to watch this Halloween season, we recommend checking out Dennis Hopper’s amazing/insane performance in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Other highlights include the corpse puppeteer film Shanks, and classic 50s monster and alien movies like The Colossus of New York and Conquest of Space.
For fans who prefer to watch the exploits of adventurers and fighters, the action section is pretty packed with viewing delights. Ninja movies abound on the channel ranging from the first three American Ninja films to Revenge of the Ninja and Ninja III: The Domination. Other shoot-and-punch-em-up options include Steven Seagal’s Born to Raise Hell and Chuck Norris’ Missing in Action.
Film buffs who enjoy cinema outside of the so-bad-their-good category will appreciate offerings like the Coen Brother’s The Man Who Wasn’t There from 2001, the Wachowski’s Bound starring Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon, 2005’s examination of teen life The Chumscrubber, and the 1951 Frank Capra wedding comedy Here Comes the Groom starring Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman.
