In all of Los Angeles, no city can tout a killer hotel pool scene like West Hollywood, home to almost a dozen great hotel pools. For decades, WeHo pools have served as the stomping ground for celebrities, socialites, families and world-class DJs behind the decks with that iconic, sprawling city-view backdrop most WeHo pools are known for. Whether you're looking to get some serious sunbathing in tranquil atmospheres or really let your hair down with some wild affairs, West Hollywood has a diverse range of hotel pool options, from rooftop havens to tucked away gems.
Considering its modern flair, you'd never believe Mondrian Los Angeles on famed Sunset Boulevard has been around since 1959. The historic building was bought by Morgans Hotel Group in 1996, which gave the hotel the necessary contemporary face it's known for today. The pool is the go-to spot for industry folk, young jetsetters and discerning families alike, and it's the closest thing in LA to "South Beach." Weekends are teeming with partiers with notoriously ripped bodies, all of whom will occasionally take a dip in the small-sized pool. SkyBar serves up some killer cocktails while the hotel’s Herringbone by celebrity chef Brian Malarkey dishes out some delicious treats. The sprawling city views are TDF.
Music history runs deep at this boutique tucked away on a quiet road off Sunset. Everyone from Courtney Love to Joan Jett, Julian Lennon to even the Jonas Brothers have shacked up at this famed hotel that celebrated fifty years in 2013. Speaking of rock stars and pools, it's here the Red Hot Chili Peppers famously jumped out their suite window into the pool below. There's not one but two pools surrounded by lush landscaping in five acres. On any given day, you can spot a famous musician simply chilling out.
Formerly known as the Riot Hyatt, the Andaz West Hollywood strays from crazy pool parties, celebrities gone wild and neck-craning affairs. It's a subdued rooftop pool scene where pool butlers bring guests craft cocktails while they bathe under the glorious West Hollywood sun and dip in the pool that's far from tabloid making. In fact, the only "scene" here is the commanding city views from the location’s perfect vantage point. Since Andaz took ownership, the hotel is more "quiet" than "riot, " lending to the peaceful vibes the hotel rooftop scene sports. If you want a great view of the Hollywood Hills, this is the perfect place to be.
